Coloring books are a great way to keep kids entertained and off their screens. Give kids a fun activity book on a subject that they’re interested in – Santa Claus and Christmas – and they’ll spend hours coloring, reading, and creating!

There are many different ways to make a coloring book. One simple way is to print out multiple coloring pages and bind them with a 3-hole punch, yarn or twine, or ribbon. Alternatively, you can use a binding machine that’s affordable and easy to operate. You can also create a cover for the booklet using construction paper and tie it with string or yarn.

The Rankin/Bass animated classic chronicles the story of Rudolph, a young reindeer buck who is ostracized by his peers because of his glowing red nose. After proving himself on Christmas Eve, when his luminous nose illuminates the team’s path through inclement winter weather, Rudolph is rewarded with a place of honor among Santa’s sleigh crew. This re-telling features original characters such as Rudolph’s love interest, Clarice; his sidekick, Hermey, a skipping elf who renames himself “Dr. Hermey”; and his antagonist, the Bumble, an abominable snow monster.

The 1964 stop-motion television special, featuring the same narrator and songs as the book, amplifies the early re-telling of a beloved Christmas story. Its addition of a villain, love interest, sidekick, and strong protector parallels the re-telling in the book.
